Pimpri Chinchwad – Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is starting the New Year with a special treat for property owners. The Taxation and Tax Collection Department has introduced two significant changes to benefit citizens.

Starting January 1, property assessments are now available online, and all registrations after this date will be exclusively online. Additionally, the facility for online extraction of property tax statements has been launched.

With 6,15,000 properties in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Taxation and Collection Department oversees their charges and recovery. Formerly, citizens had to visit tax offices, search through assessment books, and wait for handwritten transcripts, causing delays.

Now, from January 1, this entire process is streamlined online, allowing immediate access to transcripts for those registering online, with a nominal fee of 20 rupees.

For entries before December 31, 2023, property holders can access details via the ‘Property statement’ tab on the municipal website. The process involves filing details with the zonal office, computerized entry feeding by the Group Clerk, and sending links to property holders for online certificate retrieval. Offline facilities will cease from January 1.

To obtain property tax statements, citizens can visit the municipal corporation website, choose the taxation and tax collection department option, enter their mobile number or property number, and follow the OTP-based process. The municipality encourages property owners to link their mobile numbers to their properties, with over four and a half lakh properties already linked.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh, in charge of the Tax Collection and Taxation Department, initiated efforts to link property owners’ mobile numbers, leading to the availability of various online services. Plans include integrating databases with sub-registrar offices and digitizing old records for easy access.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh envisions transparent, dynamic, and accountable governance with these advancements, making Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation a potential pioneer in the country.

Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil emphasizes ongoing efforts for a seamless property registration campaign, integrating departments, and sparing citizens from separate tax payments. The focus remains on benefiting property owners and ensuring efficiency.

Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh underscores the commitment to modernize the tax collection department for the ultimate benefit of the city’s citizens.
