DPR For Pimpri Chinchwad Metro Expansion Presented; Key Routes, Suggestions And Next Steps Discussed
Pimpri, September 1, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), in collaboration with Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (Maha Metro), presented a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed metro expansion in the city.
A meeting was held at the Metro Office in Phugewadi with city representatives and Maha Metro officials to review the project plans.
Key routes included in the DPR are Bhakti Shakti Chowk–Mukai Chowk, Kiwale–Bhujbal Chowk, Wakad Sai Chowk, Jagtap Dairy–Kokane Chowk, Nashik Phata–Sant Tukaram Nagar Chowk, Gawali Matha Chowk, Bhosari District Centre, and Godown Chowk–Chakan.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Anna Bansode, MP Shrirang Appa Barne, MLC Uma Khapre, MLAs Mahesh Landge, Shankar Jagtap, and other dignitaries along with PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh and Maha Metro MD Shravan Hardikar.
Discussions covered technical, financial and execution aspects, with suggestions including alignment changes, removal of structural hurdles, uniform design for Chakan routes, convenient station access, and parking facilities.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh stated that the DPR, along with suggestions from local representatives, will be sent to the state government for further action, followed by a meeting with the Chief Minister.
