Pune: In light of heightened security threats following the Indian Army’s “Operation Sindoor”, the Pune City Police has imposed a 30-day ban on the operation of drones and other aerial devices within city limits.

The order, issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, by Joint Commissioner of Police and Executive Magistrate Ranjan Kumar Sharma, is aimed at preventing potential terrorist activities. Authorities have flagged the risk of drones, paragliders, and similar aerial equipment being used by anti-national elements to target religious sites, tourist locations, and VVIPs, potentially endangering public safety and property.

As per the order, flying of drones, remote-controlled devices, micro-lights, aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, and hot air balloons is strictly prohibited in the Pune City Police Commissionerate area from May 14, 2025 (00:09 hrs) to June 12, 2025 (24:00 hrs). The only exceptions are for aerial surveillance conducted by Pune Police or activities explicitly permitted in writing by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, Pune City.
