Dubai-Mumbai Undersea Train: UAE's Bold Vision for Future Connectivity
The UAE, known for its ambitious infrastructure projects, is reportedly considering another game-changer: an undersea train connecting Dubai and Mumbai. This audacious plan, revealed by Abdullah Alshehi, Managing Director and Chief Consultant of National Advisor Bureau Limited, could revolutionize connectivity between the UAE and India, potentially impacting the entire region.
Alshehi, the founder of the consulting firm, envisions the Dubai-Mumbai underwater rail network as a boon for trade, tourism, and economic growth. The project has the potential to dramatically reduce travel time between the two cities, fostering closer ties and opening new opportunities for both nations.
The potential for this project to transform travel, trade, and tourism is immense, but the challenges are equally formidable. Yet, the potential rewards are so great that the UAE, known for its ambitious infrastructure projects, is taking a serious look at this game-changing idea.
“This is a concept we’re exploring. We aim to establish an ultra-high-speed underwater rail link between Mumbai, India, and Fujairah. This would also enhance trade between the two nations. Oil would be exported to India, and excess water would be imported from Narmada,” said Alshehi in a report by Navbharat Times.
“This proposal needs to be evaluated from various perspectives. We will conduct a feasibility study for the project.” He further mentioned that if the idea is realized, the rail network would span approximately 2,000 kilometers.
