The warning on the Air India’s flight aircraft (VT-CIH) on Wednesday, which came just when it was to land in Mumbai was caused due to a false fire alarm.

The pilots declared May Day and informed Mumbai air traffic control. Luckily the aircraft landed safely and uneventfully and is grounded there for checks now.

Over 150 passengers on board Air India’s flight AI 814 from Delhi to Mumbai experienced a tense situation early Wednesday, when the crew declared an emergency and put out a “Mayday” call during the approach to Mumbai.

This was triggered by an engine fire warning being sounded by the systems on board the A320 aircraft.

The warning occurred just before the aircraft’s scheduled landing in Mumbai. An “emergency” was declared but the flight landed uneventfully
