Pune: It has been observed that various contractors in the market yard of Pune are illegally charging a ‘vehicle entry fee’, ranging from 10 to 50 rupees, from each driver after they enter the market, empty their vehicles of agricultural produce and leave the market. Additionally, no receipt is given to them. Hence, the administration of the market yard, Pune has strictly warned contractors to not take any fee from the vehicles.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Aniruddha Bhosale, Manager, APMC Pune said, “We have received some complaints about vehicle entry fees being charged for vehicles exiting through Gate no 5 of the Bhusar Division. Accordingly, the market yard has sent notice to the contractors ordering them to stop taking vehicle entry fees from the exiting vehicles. If not stopped, then strict action will be taken against the contractors.”

As per the information, the ‘vehicle entry fee’ is not at all charged for vehicles carrying agricultural produce in the market yard for fruits, vegetables, onions, potatoes, bananas etc. But in Bhusar Division Gate No 5, this fee is levied from agricultural vehicles exiting from the gate. A receipt isn’t given to them either.

In Bhusar Market, the ‘vehicle entry fee’ is charged at Rs.10 for the first five hours and an additional Rs 10 per hour after five hours. Hence, after receiving objections & complaints about this, the Pune market yard has warned the contractors of Bhusar market to stop taking this fee from the farmer vehicles.
