Pune’s roads have become increasingly hazardous due to the heavy rains, with potholes dotting major routes and causing severe traffic jams, especially during peak hours. The deteriorating infrastructure has sparked widespread concern among residents.

On Sunday, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) drawing attention to the dismal state of a road in Hinjawadi, a prominent IT hub. “This is Pune’s Hinjawadi—India’s top IT centre. Three lakh top IT engineers reach here every day to work in 200 top IT companies, generating software exports worth ₹1,60,700 crore and showcasing India’s IT prowess to the world,” Agnihotri noted in his post.

His post quickly garnered reactions from other X users, who echoed the concerns and urged immediate action. “Not only Hinjawadi, but all areas of Pune city are filled with potholes. Not a single road in Pune is free from them,” one user commented. Another expressed frustration, saying, “Despite so much potential, this is how India lets itself down time and again. High time some accountability is fixed.”

The conversation around the poor road conditions in Pune continues to grow, with many hoping for swift intervention from the Maharashtra state government to address the issue.
