Fire brigade successfully rescues six people stuck in elevator at Sassoon Hospital
On November 3, at 11.50 pm, the fire brigade control room received a call regarding an elevator malfunction at Sassoon Hospital (new building) with individuals trapped inside.
As per the information received, a fire engine and a rescue van were promptly dispatched from the fire brigade headquarters. Upon reaching the location, it was observed that the elevator was stuck between the fourth and fifth floors of the new building of Sassoon Hospital (No. 100) for approximately one hour. Upon discovering they came to know the presence of six individuals inside.
During the emergency, the personnel quickly took action by going to the terrace of the 11-storey building and attempting to remove the lift room. They also recognized the dire situation of the people trapped in the lift below and promptly arranged for a fan to provide fresh air and maintain their breathing.
Realizing the situation, the personnel, along with the employees of Omega Company Lift, managed to open the elevator door and successfully rescued six individuals, including four hospital employees and two citizens.
The operation was carried out by fire officers Sanjay Ramteke and Prashant Gaikar, as well as drivers Sachin Chavan, Omkar Sakhare, and personnel Bhusan Sonawane, Ketan Narke, Paresh Jadhav, and Akshay Shinde. The rescue operation was completed at 12.32 am.
