On 19th February 2024 (Monday), a massive fire broke out in a house in Chawand village in Junnar taluka. No casualties or injuries reported. The house has been completely burnt.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Subhash Jadhav, Station Duty Officer, PMC Fire Brigade, said “Around 1:30 pm on Monday, we received information about fire breaking out in Khadakwadi (Kukdeshwar), Chawand village, which is around 20 km from Junnar taluka, in a house of a person called Ganpat Joshi.

A tenant was living in the house who had gone out for his work. He is a laborer. Other people had gone out. After that, the fire broke out in which all things in the house, things like gold, cash worth Rs 40 to 50 thousand etc was burnt. The fire intensity was huge as it took around 20 minutes for us to douse the entire fire & bring the situation under control. The exact cause of the fire is unknown as of now.”

As per further information shared by Subhash Jadhav, fire officials & vehicles of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) were present for the operation.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.
