Thousands of fish found dead in Jambhulwadi lake

Thousands of fish, were found dead today morning at Katraj Jambhulwadi lake. The incident was raised by environment lovers Sandeep Kale, Dharmesh Rajput and Ganesh Kalapure who were informed by local residents about fishes being dead.

The activists told Pune Pulse that some local residents informed about this issue after which Rajput and Kale visited the spot to confirm it. Kalapure and others are working for the environment conservation committee formed by the Bharatiya Janata party in Pune. The matter is now raised with the environment department of Pune Municipal Corporation for further investigation.

Pune Pulse raised this issue with the environment officer, Pune Municipal Corporation, he said, “Samples are being taken of the water and shall be sent for further investigation. It will take two to three days for the reports to know the exact cause of the death. This is the first time that this has been reported from Jambhulwadi lake.”

Local residents informed that the possibility of death could be due to sewage water being let into the water body which has contaminated the water.

Pune Pulse also raised the matter with Vasant More, president, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Pune city who assured to find out the exact cause.
