The state government has been urged to provide assistance to the flood victims. The request has been made, and the distribution of aid is set to commence within the next two to three days. For those individuals whose official documentation has not been completed (panchnamas), their paperwork will be updated, and appropriate actions will be taken. Every flood victim will receive the necessary support. Currently, foodgrain packages are being handed out and will be expanded further. Dr. Collector ensured that there is a positive outlook towards granting Rs. 25,000 aid to the flood victims, and a decision will be made shortly. Suhas Diwase extended assistance to the flood victims.

Following the recent heavy rains, certain areas of the city experienced flooding. To address the diverse needs of these flood victims, a protest march was arranged by the Republican Party of India (Atwale Group) on their behalf. Dr. Thousands of individuals participating in the protest march set off from the Babasaheb Ambedkar statue and proceeded to the Collectorate, Irrigation Bhawan, and Pune Municipal Corporation.

Hundreds of flood-affected citizens took part in this event. Ripain City President Sanjay Sonwane, Regional Secretary Balasaheb Janrao, former Deputy Mayor Dr. Siddharth Dhende, Sunita Wadekar, Regional Organizer Parashuram Wadekar, Adv. Mandar Joshi, former corporator Ashok Kamble, Mahendra Kamble were in attendance.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosle mentioned the reconsideration of the river improvement project. Additionally, plans are underway to establish new blue and red lines. Steps have been initiated to clear encroachments in drains and riverbeds, with waterways set to be unblocked soon. An underground pipeline to Fursungi is on the horizon to prevent water overflow from the canal.

Sanjay Sonawane highlighted that around ten thousand families in the city have been impacted by the flood and have not yet received aid from the state government. He emphasized the need for preventive measures to avoid future flood situations in settlements along the river.

Key demands presented include:

– Immediate assistance of Rs. 25,000 for each affected family.

– Prompt removal of encroachments leading to flooding.

– Redrawing of flood lines (red line, blue line).

– Empowerment of the Emergency Management Committee.

– Creation of an alternative water disposal system.
