Salil Kapoor, the former president of Atlas Cycles, was found dead at his home in Lutyen’s Delhi on Tuesday. Authorities suspect that he died by suicide, reportedly using a revolver. Police mentioned that a note was recovered from the scene.
The 65-year-old was discovered in a pool of blood near the prayer room of his three-story residence. Family members found his body and quickly took him to AIIMS, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Sources indicated that the suicide note revealed Kapoor was enduring “mental harassment,” which contributed to his tragic decision. He was reportedly struggling with significant financial problems and was deeply in debt, according to a senior police officer. Police also reported that Kapoor died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head with a licensed revolver. At the time of the incident, his wife and three children were living separately. Kapoor resided in the three-story building with his manager and his family.
In 2015, Kapoor was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in three cheating cases amounting to Rs 9 crore. Additionally, in 2020, his sister-in-law, Natasha Kapoor, also died by suicide after returning from a wedding in Kolkata.
