Former MP’s Son Found Dead by Suicide in Pune’s Manchar: Investigation Underway

Pune: Vikas Kisanrao Bankhele (42), son of former Lok Sabha MP Kisanrao Bankhele, was found dead at his residence in Manchar, Ambegaon taluka, Pune district, on Thursday.

Police said Vikas allegedly died by suicide, using a wire to hang himself in his room. The cause behind the tragic incident remains unclear, and no suicide note was found. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death at the Manchar police station and initiated an investigation to determine the motive.

According to police inspector Shrikant Kankal, Vikas had spent the day meeting friends and returned home in the evening. When family members called him for dinner, he did not respond. Upon entering his room, they discovered his lifeless body. Police were immediately notified.

Vikas’s father, Kisanrao Bankhele, was a senior politician who represented the Khed constituency in the 1988 Lok Sabha elections. Kisanrao passed away in 2014. Vikas resided in Manchar with his mother, wife, son, and brother.

Police havaldar Sumit More is leading the investigation. Vikas’s funeral was held on Friday, as family and community members mourned his untimely death.
