Four Injured in Collision on Pune-Satara Highway, Traffic Disrupted for Kilometers
Pune, 30th November 2024: A collision between a car and a container truck on the Pune-Satara highway near Degaon Phata on Saturday morning left four people injured, including a three-and-a-half-year-old girl. The accident caused a massive traffic jam, with vehicles queued for up to four kilometers. Normal traffic resumed after the wreckage was cleared using a crane.
The injured were identified as Sarjerao Sakharam Patil (60), Baikka Sarjerao Patil (50), Praveen Sakharam Patil (35), and Ira Praveen Patil (3.5), all residents of Darewadi in Kolhapur district. Sarjerao Patil and his wife sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Nasrapur. The family was traveling from Mumbai to Kolhapur when the incident occurred.
Rajgad police reported that the collision happened at 9:30 a.m. near the Cheladi flyover. The container truck, traveling behind the car, crashed into it, causing the driver to lose control. The truck became stuck near a bridge following the impact.
The four victims were trapped inside the car and were rescued by Rajgad police, who rushed them to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the accident led to significant congestion between Varve and Degaon Phata. The traffic cleared only after the damaged vehicles were removed with the help of a crane.
