From Intel to Dosas: How One Indian Entrepreneur is Sharing Culture Through Food Across the World
Quitting a secure, high-paying job at a renowned tech company like Intel is not something many people dare to do. But for Mohan, the co-founder of Dosamaa, passion and purpose outweighed the comfort of a stable career. Leaving Germany, where he held a lucrative position in tech, he decided to take a bold leap into entrepreneurship—not with a software product, but with a culinary mission: to bring authentic, healthy dosas to the world.
Mohan shared his journey in an Instagram post: “We left high-paying tech jobs in Germany to start a dosa restaurant. It was challenging, but our goal has always been to share the taste and culture of India—from Paris to London, and now Pune.” He co-founded Dosamaa in 2023 and currently serves as the Managing Director.
In a video shared online, Mohan explains, “I quit my high-paying job in Germany to do this,” while skillfully making dosas. He recalls studying in Paris on a scholarship and landing lucrative jobs afterward, but he felt a stronger calling: introducing people to India’s rich culinary heritage. Together with his friends, he launched Dosamaa, a brand that has now expanded internationally.
The journey, however, was far from easy. “It was exhausting—sleepless nights, operational headaches, constant challenges,” Mohan admits. His story is a testament to the dedication and resilience required to turn a dream into a global business.
Social media has embraced his journey enthusiastically. One user wrote, “Mind blown by this boy’s thought process! Huge respect for sharing India’s healthy gut food with the world.” Another added, “Wish you all the best. I’m from Paris, Saclay as well.” Fans from the UK and other countries also sent messages of support and admiration, celebrating his courage to follow his passion.
Dosamaa recently opened its Pune branch on FC Road, marking the brand’s first footprint in India. A video from the launch showcased the excitement and energy surrounding this new chapter, reflecting the growing love for authentic Indian cuisine worldwide.
Mohan’s journey is more than just a career switch; it’s about embracing passion, preserving culture, and sharing it with the world. His story proves that true success is not only measured by financial gains but by the joy of pursuing what you love while connecting people across continents through culture and food.
