Sangli: Nineteen-year-old Vedant Wayangade, a farmer’s son from the remote village of Tung in Miraj Taluka, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 160th rank in the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance exam conducted by the UPSC.

Hailing from a family of progressive farmers, Vedant drew inspiration from his grandfather Shamrao and father Pravin, who instilled in him the values of discipline and perseverance. His academic journey began at B.K. Chougule Secondary School in Ashta, where he scored an impressive 98% in his Class 10 exams.

Recognizing his potential, Vedant was admitted to the Services Preparatory Institute (SPI) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. There, under the mentorship of Major Sayyada Firasat, Lt. Col. Uday Pol, Subedar Mahesh Jagtap, and Uttam Aadhav, he underwent rigorous training for one of India’s toughest selection processes.

The NDA exam includes a challenging written test, a five-day Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, and thorough medical evaluations. Despite the odds, Vedant cleared every stage with unwavering focus and determination.
