G-20 meeting in Pune to highlight IT’s progress and Maharashtra culture

Pune, June 1, 2023 : “During the Digital Economy Working Group meeting which will be held in Pune in conjunction with the G-20 Nations Conference, the members should be shown the progress in the field of information technology and also the rich culture of Maharashtra,”  said Abhishek Singh,  Additional Secretary, E-governance division during a review meeting held regarding the planning of the G-20 meeting at Vidhan Bhavan Auditorium recently.

The Digital Economy Working Group meeting will be held in Pune from June 12 to June 14, when the city will be celebrating the Ashadhi Wari, an annual festival.

Abhishek Singh added, “Care should be taken to ensure that the meeting is organized flawlessly. The guests should be introduced to Maharashtra’s cultural heritage on the occasion of the Palkhi ceremony. The information about Wari should be given through QR codes and guidebooks. Additionally, the diverse food culture of Maharashtra should also be introduced to the guests during the meal.”

Vikram Kumar, Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner provided an overview of the preparations made by the Municipal Corporations which includes city cleaning, beautification of important squares and roads, and electric lighting at night.

Various officials like Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary of Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Anupam Ashish Chauhan, Deputy Secretary, Saurabh Rao, Divisional Commissioner  Vikram Kumar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Ritesh Kumar Pune Police Commissioner, Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune’s District Collector, Ajay More, Pune’s Additional Collector, Varsha Ladda Pune’s Deputy Commissioner etc. were present in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that the delegates coming for the meeting will be welcomed at the airport in traditional Maharashtrian style with clarinet & choughada. The airport will be aligned with a digital theme to align with the meeting’s focus. During the cultural program organized in honour of the guests, performances such as Maasaheb Jijau Vandan, Dindi, Shetkari dance, Mangalagour, Govinda, Koli dance, Lavani, Dhangar dance, and Shivrajyabhishek ceremony will be performed.
