In a shocking incident, a student at a college in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was asked to vacate the stage after he responded to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants by fellow students during a cultural fest. The incident, captured in a widely shared video on social media, shows a teacher instructing the student to leave the stage.

The ABES Engineering College was hosting the fest at the time. As the student approaches the stage, he is greeted with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants, to which he replies, “Jai Shri Ram friends”. Shortly after, a teacher named Mamata Gautam is seen directing the students to leave the stage.

In Hindi, she states, “This is a cultural program and such chants are not permitted.” The video gained the attention of the Ghaziabad Police Commissioner, who announced on X that the Crossings police station in charge had been instructed to investigate the incident and take appropriate action.

Subsequently, the college authorities suspended Mamata Gautam and another professor, Shweta Sharma, for requesting the student to leave the stage before delivering his performance.
