Will rain play spoilsport in IND Vs New Zealand match ?

PUNE: India is scheduled to face New Zealand in the fifth match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala today.

Unfortunately, there is a 52% chance of rain at 2 p.m. and a 47% chance at 3 p.m. Based on Accuweather, the maximum temperature in Dharamshala on Sunday is expected to reach 18 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 11 degrees Celsius. There is a 42% chance of rain throughout the day. The sky will be cloudy, and the wind speed will be 26 km/h.

However, the probability of rain decreases significantly after 3 p.m., with a 14% chance of rain between 4 and 6 p.m. and only a 2% chance thereafter. It is possible that the match may start late or have a reduced number of overs due to the weather conditions.

According to ICC regulations, the 2023 World Cup matches do not have a designated reserve day. In the event of rain causing the India vs. New Zealand match to be canceled, both teams will receive one point each. It is fortunate that the World Cup matches have remained unaffected by rain so far. However, the match between the Netherlands and South Africa in Dharamsala on October 17 was played despite the rain. Additionally, both of India’s warm-up matches for the 2023 World Cup in Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram were canceled due to rain.
