A meeting regarding the construction of a glass skywalk at Malshej Ghat was held today. Situated on the Thane-Pune district border along the Kalyan-Nagar highway, Malshej Ghat is a scenic tourist destination in the Western Ghats. Considering its tourism potential, it was proposed that a glass skywalk be built on a vacant hill adjacent to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation’s (MTDC) rest house at the location.

Officials have been directed to submit a consolidated proposal within a month for constructing the skywalk under the public-private partnership model.

Malshej Ghat is located near major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik, and Ahmednagar. Additionally, nearby attractions include Shivneri Fort, Harishchandragad, several waterfalls, and the Pimpalgaon Joga Dam. It is expected that the construction of the skywalk would significantly boost tourism in the area.

The tourism department has been instructed to submit a comprehensive proposal for the development of the region, while the Public Works Department (Regional) – National Highways has been tasked with assessing the financial feasibility of the project and submitting a report.

A meeting was held today regarding the construction of a glass skywalk in Malshej Ghat. Malshej Ghat is a scenic tourist spot in the Western Ghats, located on the border of Thane and Pune districts, on the Kalyan-Nagar highway. Considering the tourist importance of this place, a glass skywalk should be constructed in an empty space on the hill next to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation rest house in Malshej Ghat. The concerned officials were directed to submit a joint proposal within a month for the construction of this skywalk on a public-private partnership basis.

Malshej Ghat is close to major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik and Ahmednagar. Also, there are tourist places like Shivneri Fort, Harishchandragad, various waterfalls, Pimpalgaon Joga Dam etc. near the ghat. Therefore, if a skywalk is built, a large number of tourists will come to this place and tourism will be boosted. The Tourism Department should submit a joint proposal for the development of this area. The Public Works Regional Department (National Highways) should examine the economic feasibility of this project and submit a proposal.

The officials were instructed to exclude eco-sensitive areas while constructing the Sky Walk project, and to take into account the feedback of the Forest Department in this project. The Thane District Collector was also instructed to provide an alternative site to the Forest Department.
