Goa is in a bid to boost its standing in the tech sector and enhance opportunities for youth and professionals. This initiative is part of Goa’s strategy to become the creative capital of India and create ample opportunities for the youth and professionals in the state.

Flowork-Alpha, an offshore vessel owned by W3BONTHESEA-Oceancrest Pvt Ltd, will serve as a co-working space for Web3 developers, innovators, and technical support startups. The barge, equipped with meeting rooms, recreational areas, and 5G-connected workspaces, aims to position Goa as a preferred destination for the tech community. Additionally, co-working spaces are slated to emerge on the Morjim and Ashwem beaches, offering visitors a unique blend of work and leisure.

The Goa government wants to promote the state as a tourism destination not only for its beaches but also for other activities, state tourism secretary Sanjeev Ahuja said. “We want to invite more tourists specially from Europe and high-spending tourists from other destinations by providing them an all-around experience,” he said.

The Goa tourism department wants to give other reasons also to travellers to come to the state, the official said.

The concept of co-working spaces on the beaches has been introduced by the department led by Minister Rohan Khaunte, wherein the state will give nomad visas to the people who can come here, work and also enjoy the beaches.

There are very few people who would know that Goa has huge temples which can be developed from the tourism perspective, adding that even churches are covered under this concept. The state tourism department has already signed an agreement with Temple Connect, an organization dedicated to the revival and development of the temple ecosystem, for this purpose. In addition to promoting beach tourism, there is a significant emphasis on spiritual tourism through the implementation of regenerative tourism, the official stated.

Tourists will have the opportunity to explore spice and cashew plantations in the coastal state, offering a firsthand experience of farm-to-table dining, the official explained. The tourism department has introduced activities such as hiking to enhance the visitor experience. The annual carnival, a traditional event in the state, is actively being promoted by the department. Additionally, the promotion of festivals like ‘Chikhal Kalo’, reminiscent of the ‘Tomatina festival’ in Spain, is part of the tourism initiatives.

With these initiatives, Goa seeks to attract diverse tourists, aligning with its broader tourism strategy.
