Anita Goyal, wife of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, passed away on Thursday morning after battling the final stage of cancer. Survived by her husband and two children, Namrata and Nivaan Goyal, Anita’s health had been deteriorating over the past few months despite medical treatment. Reports indicate that she was fighting third-stage cancer.

The news of Anita’s demise comes shortly after the Bombay High Court granted the couple a two-month-long interim bail in a money laundering case on medical grounds. Naresh Goyal, 75, had sought interim bail citing his own health issues as well, as he too is battling cancer.

During the court proceedings, Goyal’s lawyer, senior advocate Harish Salve, appealed on humanitarian grounds, emphasizing the physical and mental challenges faced by Goyal, particularly due to his wife’s illness. It was mentioned that Goyal had opted for chemotherapy over more invasive treatments so he could be by his wife’s side.

Anita Goyal, who served as the executive vice president, was actively involved in the operations of Jet Airways. Her passing occurred around 3 a.m., with Naresh Goyal present at their Mumbai residence.

Naresh Goyal, currently in judicial custody at the Arthur Road Central Jail (ARCJ) since September 1, 2023, had sought bail on the grounds of not having misappropriated loan amounts for personal gain, as alleged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a Canara Bank loan amounting to ₹ 538.62 crore extended to the Jet Airways group.
