Google office in Pune gets bomb threat, caller detained
A caller from Hyderabad was held by the Hyderabad police for allegedly making a hoax bomb call to Google office in Malad Mumbai informing them of a bomb in their Pune office on Sunday night.
Accused has been identified as Pranayam Babu Shivanand, a resident of Hyderabad in Telangana state.
According to Pune police, they got information about the call from Google office in Mumbai on Sunday at around 11:00 pm. Later a police team along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads checked the Google office premises located in Koregaon Park but no suspicious item was found. Thereafter, the concerned authority lodged a complaint with the Bandra Kurla Complex police station in Mumbai city.
As per the complaint filed by Dilip Laxman Tambe, a resident of Malad, Mumbai on Sunday at around 8:00pm, he received a call from an unknown number and told that he had kept a bomb in Google office in Pune. When the complainant asked him where he planted the bomb, he abused the complainant and disconnected the call.
During investigation, the mobile number from which the call was placed was traced to Pranayam Babu Shivanand, a resident of Hyderabad. A search operation was carried out and the accused was arrested from his house by Hyderabad police.
Amol Zende, DCP (Crime) Pune said, “This is a hoax call there is no need to worry about it. Accused had a property dispute with his brother who is working in the Pune office of the said company. The complaint regarding same was registered in Mumbai and further investigation is going on.”
