Govind Yashada Chowk in Pimple Saudagar decongested as farmer’s market relocated to service road : Shatrughan Kate

Pune: From August 20, the farmer’s weekly market (Aathavdi Bazaar) on Govind Yashada Chowk Road has been shifted to the service road adjacent to Govind Yashada Chowk Linear Garden to reduce traffic congestion.
As per information, ex-corporator Shatrughan Kate has taken this decision considering the inconvenience caused to the people because of traffic congestion which occurs due to the weekly market.
Also, action will be taken against vendors who will park their carts on the footpaths. It is worthy to note that In Pimple Saudagar, the farmers’ weekly market was started by Kate to provide direct access to agricultural produce and vegetables. After that many weekly markets came up in different places in the same area.
At present, Pimple Saudagar is facing the issue of traffic jams in many places. It worsens on weekends as citizens, who mainly belong to IT backgrounds, come out in large numbers to purchase groceries and other essential items. The shifting of the marketplace will help improve traffic congestion in the area. Kate has appealed to citizens to cooperate and also park their vehicles in the designated spots.
