Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation offers rebate in property tax to owners as incentive for those having environment friendly projects such as solar panels, wet waste treatment plant and rain water harvesting plants in their complexes.

Over 10, 853 flat owners of the city who have made an invaluable contribution to the environment by implementing sewage treatment plants and zero waste projects have been given exemption from general income tax amounting to Rs 55 lakhs.

In the current financial year, about Rs 400 crores of tax has been paid.

Various facilities such as online tax payment, online no objection certificate, online asset transfer facility, provision of various wallets for tax payment have been made available to the income holders of the city by the taxation and tax collection department of the municipality. Therefore, taxpayers are able to pay tax without hindrance.

Also, various tax concessions are also being provided by the Municipal Corporation for taxpayers.

While giving information about this, Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh said, “Sewage treatment plants and zero waste projects are being implemented in 42 large housing societies in the city. There are 10, 853 flats in these societies. All these flat owners have been given a tax relief of Rs 55 lakhs. From this tax concession, 25 to 50 percent of the amount was saved for the societies to implement their sewage treatment plants and zero waste projects. Deshmukh further said that many society owners in the city are able to take advantage of the discount scheme by creating environmental complementary societies.

Shekhar Singh, PCMC, Commissioner said, “There is an online process to apply for the Onsite Compost Rebate Scheme. However,  the Municipal Corporation felt that it was necessary to give this concession on its own and the information of the societies in which environmental complementary activities are implemented under the Municipal Corporation’s Regional Offices should be provided by the Regional Offices to the Tax Collection and Taxation Department by the month of January.

The tax collection department has ordered that on April 1, the new bill with discount will be issued.

To check if it is possible to increase the concessions, the head of the health department and the head of the tax collection department have also been ordered to work on it.
