Out of the 140 suspected cases, 98 have been confirmed. The cases are distributed across Pune city (26), newly added PMC villages (78), Pimpri Chinchwad (15), Pune Rural (10), and other districts (11). Health officials suspect contaminated water as a contributing factor to the outbreak.
GBS is a rare neurological disorder where the immune system attacks the nerves, causing weakness, numbness, and in severe cases, paralysis.
To curb the spread, PMC advises ensuring safe drinking water—boiling it for at least 20 minutes, proper food hygiene, avoiding street food, and maintaining personal hygiene. Citizens are urged to stay vigilant, especially regarding water and food safety.
