Hardik Pandya Reactivates Instagram After Disappearance Amid IPL Speculation
The Mumbai Indians captain briefly vanished from Instagram on Wednesday, triggering intense speculation among fans already discussing his future after MI’s disappointing IPL 2026 campaign.
India all-rounder and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya briefly disappeared from Instagram on Wednesday before restoring his account within hours, creating a frenzy among cricket fans and social media users.

For a period on Wednesday evening, users searching for Hardik’s Instagram profile were greeted with messages such as “User not found” and “This profile is private.” At times, the platform also displayed “Something went wrong” while attempting to access the account.

The sudden disappearance came just days after Mumbai Indians endured a disappointing IPL 2026 season, finishing ninth on the points table despite entering the tournament with high expectations. Hardik’s absence from Instagram quickly sparked speculation about whether the Indian star was taking a break from social media following criticism over Mumbai’s poor campaign.
However, the suspense did not last long as Hardik restored his Instagram account later the same night, putting an end to rumours surrounding a possible permanent exit from the platform.

The entire IPL 2026 season saw Hardik remain under intense scrutiny. The all-rounder struggled to make a major impact with either bat or ball, scoring 206 runs in 10 matches while picking up only four wickets. He also missed a few matches due to back spasms, raising concerns over his fitness.
Interestingly, Hardik sat out two games after Mumbai Indians were officially eliminated from the playoff race. Despite the concerns, he had earlier reassured fans about his physical condition after Mumbai’s defeat to Rajasthan Royals.
“Everything is fine. I bat, I bowl, I field, I skip, so it’s okay,” Hardik had said while addressing questions around his fitness.
Adding further intrigue to the situation were growing rumours linking Hardik with a possible move away from Mumbai Indians. A recent social media post featuring the timestamp “07:07” led fans to speculate about a potential switch to Chennai Super Kings. The rumours gained even more attention after CSK spinner Ravichandran Ashwin posted cryptically on X, writing: “Pathirana, 07:07 & Stokes!”
Hardik’s move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in 2024 had already triggered massive debate after he replaced Rohit Sharma as captain. The decision drew strong reactions from fans across the country, with Hardik facing boos at several venues during IPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians’ performances under his leadership have remained inconsistent. The franchise finished in the bottom half in both 2024 and 2026, though the team did reach Qualifier 2 in IPL 2025 before being knocked out by Punjab Kings.
Hardik is now expected to return to action during India’s upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan beginning June 14, subject to fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence.
