Heavy downpour causes 12 trees to fall, disrupts traffic in Bavdhan

Bavdhan: A heavy down pour wreaked havoc in parts of Bavdhan on April 13, causing the fall of 12 trees and resulting in traffic disruptions on Pashan NDA road at Shinde Nagar. Of these 12 trees, 8 trees fell on the road and 4 in the premises of a society. The local authorities were immediately alerted, and efforts to clear the area are still ongoing.

According to C.S. Krishna, a resident of Shinde Nagar, “After heavy rainfall and strong winds around 7 pm, we saw around 12 trees had fallen down. We immediately contacted the department for assistance, and they have been working to remove the major trees.”

Police Inspector Rama Rajmane, who was present at the site, stated, “Two major trees had fallen down on the Pashan NDA link road in Shinde Nagar. Upon receiving the information, we rushed to the spot and, with the help of local residents, removed the trees that were causing traffic congestion.”

Anil Sabale, from the garden department, shared, “Mostly in Shinde Nagar, the trees have fallen, and the work of cleaning the area is currently ongoing. We have deployed JCBs and Dumpers to remove the branches and clear the area. We expect the work to be completed by today.”

The incident has caused inconvenience to local residents and commuters, as traffic has been affected in the area. The authorities are working tirelessly to clear the fallen trees and restore normalcy as soon as possible.
