Yellow Alert in Pune : Parts of Pune city experience hail storm and heavy downpour

The Indian Meteorological Department Pune issued yellow alert for Pune city and surrounding areas. South Pune, consisting of Bibvewadi and other areas received heavy downpour. Bibvewadi experienced a hail storm and intense spell of rain. 

 The city may experience thundery activity, lightning, gusty winds and spells of rain, between moderate to intense. In the afternoon the temperature may rise upto 38 to 39 degrees making it humid and suffocating. The afternoon period may also be full of moisture and suffocating. The weather forecasting department informed us that it is advisable to avoid the period between 11 AM and 2 PM. Also, staying hydrated by drinking adequate water is advised. 

Avoid stepping out in afternoons to preclude instances of heat exhaustion and dehydration. Avoid going out between 11 am to 2 pm and stay hydrated.

During the times of gusty (strong) winds, people should remove any plant pots from windows/ balcony railings, as strong winds can push them off the sill or railing injuring residents.This could even be fatal for somebody.

Not to take shelter under trees during thundery activity.

Avoid using mobile phones and unplug electronic appliances during period of lightning.

Keep windows and doors closed during periods of strong wind.

Avoid travel during times of strong wind/lightning.

Drive slowly as visibility may reduce and roads may be slippery due to the rain spells.
