After heavy rainfall in Mumbai, which led to cancellation, diversion and delayed flights, the Ahmedabad airport was assigned the task of accommodating 15 more flights than usual.

This was probably the first time that so many flights had to be diverted in a single day. While the majority of flights were redirected to Pune and Surat, some of them were rerouted to Ahmedabad airport on Sunday, July 28.

Flight operations at the Mumbai airport were temporarily disrupted as visibility was affected after heavy rains lashed the city.

Due to the poor weather, flights could not land in Mumbai, therefore numerous flights were diverted.

The Ahmedabad airport operates around 250 flights regularly. However, the city airport was assigned the task of managing 15 more flights that were rerouted from Mumbai due to diversion.

The operation was completed without any difficulty by the Ahmedabad airport team despite the sudden influx.

Incessant rains over the financial capital have caused disruption in railway and airline schedules over the past few days.
