Helicopter Crash In Pune Kills 3, Was Scheduled To Pick Up NCP Leader Sunil Tatkare
A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Pune’s Bavdhan area early today, claiming the lives of three people on board. The helicopter, which took off from Oxford Golf Club helipad, was scheduled to pick up Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sunil Tatkare from Mumbai.
According to Hinjawadi police, the crash occurred at approximately 6:45 am due to thick fog in the area. The helicopter hovered in the sky for some time before crashing to the ground. The victims have been identified as pilots Girishkumar Pillai and Paramjit Singh, and engineer Pritamchand Bhardwaj.
Sunil Tatkare, NCP’s state president, had traveled to Parli in Beed from Pune by helicopter yesterday and was returning to Pune today. Fortunately, he was not on board the ill-fated helicopter. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad stated that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the accident.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey confirmed the deaths of the three individuals. The crash has sent shockwaves through the political community, with leaders expressing condolences for the victims and relief that Tatkare was not harmed.
The DGCA will conduct a thorough investigation into the accident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest that thick fog played a significant role in the incident. This incident raises concerns about aviation safety, particularly in foggy conditions.
The NCP has expressed deep condolences for the victims’ families and praised the narrow escape of their leader, Sunil Tatkare. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with air travel and the importance of ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
