High fines to be imposed on violators dumping garbage on streets

In the recent meeting chaired by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), PCMC Commissioner, Rajesh Patil, stressed on the need to curb uncleanliness in the city limits.

The committee chaired by the PCMC commissioner discussed various threats arising out of garbage disposal littered on the streets and in public spaces. Earlier, the civic body fined the violators with just Rs 180. Witnessing the rise in the violation, the PCMC has now decided to increase fines.

Hereafter, the violators who caught littering the street with small amounts of garbage in public spaces or streets, would be fined with Rs 500. In case, the garbage is being dumped in larger quantities, the violators would be fined with a hefty fine of Rs 50,000. Violators who would be caught spitting in the open will be fined 1,000 rupees while urinating in the open will impose a fine of 1,000 rupees. Illegal advertising posters on government property will attract a fine Rs 500 & Rs 500, for small and large posters, respectively.

In the house, business spaces or in malls, if found guilty of littering the open space that leads to mosquito breeding ground, would attract a fine of 1000, 2000 & 10,000 rupees.
