Hoarding charges to be collected ₹ 222 per sq ft from newly added villages, orders HC

Pune: The Bombay High Court has ordered the hoarding owners of newly added 34 villages to pay the hoarding charges as per 222 per square feet and obtain an official license from Pune Municipal Corporation. The petition was heard on December 22, 2022.

While, the high court has ordered that the Pune Municipal Corporation should take the charges without taking any action against the hoardings.
After the state government’s decision to include 11 villages in 2017 and 23 villages in 2021 in PMC. A large number of unauthorized hoardings are erected in these villages. After the villages were added in PMC,  the Sky and Sign department warned that the hoarding owner has to pay the fee or action will be taken. Therefore, these hoarding owners approached the High Court against this action.

The petition was heard before a bench of in-charge Chief Justice Sanjay Gangapurwala and Justice S G Chapalgaonkar. The court has ordered, according to new policy hoardings owners of these villages should give an application to PMC and pay ₹222 per square feet charges.
