In an unusual turn of events, a woman from Piplani in Bhopal has initiated divorce proceedings, citing dissatisfaction with her honeymoon destination. The husband’s decision to choose Ayodhya and Varanasi over the anticipated destination of Goa became the catalyst for the couple’s marital discord.

The matter reached the Bhopal family court on January 19, a mere ten days after the couple returned from their trip. According to reports, the woman, employed in her own right, expressed that financial constraints were not an obstacle to an overseas honeymoon. However, her husband, working in the IT industry, insisted on a domestic destination, citing parental responsibilities.

Despite initial plans for Goa or South India, the husband unilaterally altered the itinerary, booking tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi. The surprise change, attributed to the husband’s mother’s desire to visit Ayodhya before the Ram Mandir consecration, left the wife disheartened.

Although she complied with the altered plan, she subsequently sought a divorce upon their return.

The woman contended that her husband prioritize his parents over her, leading to irreconcilable differences. In response, the husband dismissed the claims as an unnecessary fuss.

The Bhopal Family Court is currently facilitating counseling sessions for the couple, attempting to navigate the complexities arising from this unique marital dispute. The case sheds light on the importance of communication and consensus in decision-making, particularly regarding significant life events.
