HSRP Deadline Nears with Only 5,014 Vehicles Receiving Plates in Pune
Poor Response To HSRP Number Plate Installation In Pune
As the deadline for mandatory High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) approaches, only 5,014 vehicles have received their HSRPs out of the 15,116 applicants in Pune, according to the Times of India report. While 8,090 appointments have been issued, the total number of vehicles requiring the plates by the end of March remains significantly higher.
This slow progress raises concerns about meeting the deadline and highlights the need for faster processing and distribution of HSRPs. According to the report, more than two crore vehicles of all kinds in the state will have to get these new plates by March 31.
In Pune regional transport office’s (RTO) jurisdiction, 24.2 8 lakh vehicles will have to go through the process. Till date, only 5,014 vehicles have got the HSRPs. Additionally, 15,116 people have applied, of which 8,090 appointments have been given, and 5,014 people have got the HSRPs for their vehicles, it further states.
In Pimpri Chinchwad, thousands of vehicles are required to update their registration numbers, according to recent reports from the local RTO office. An official revealed that despite 7,835 appointments being booked, only 1,151 vehicles have obtained high-security registration plates (HSRPs) so far. He informed that the RTO office will introduce a help desk soon to assist individuals struggling with registration and appointment scheduling.
Pune’s RTO help desk is set to become operational from the second week of February, providing assistance to those facing difficulties with registration and appointments. “People can meet the team and its members will help them register and get appointments. They should come with their vehicle documents so that the job becomes easier,” according to another official from the Pune RTO.
