During a session held by Business School Marsters Union, CFO of Oyo Abhisekh Gupta revealed in an interview that in 2015, he had to print his own offer letter when he was hired by Oyo Founder Ritesh Agarwal.

Gupta was introduced to Ritesh by one of his classmates at Indian School Of Business (ISB) while he was working for Philips.
He met Ritesh, the board and the investors several times before realizing that they’re building something special. He started working with Oyo even before he formally joined, when it was a series B company.

Gupta recalled that the moment they shook hands, Ritesh said, “Aapka time shuru ho gaya hai, mujhe nahi Pata aapka notice period hai, kya hai (Your Job has started, I don’t care if you have a notice period). As far as I’m concerned you are the CFO, you go and figure out what needs to be done.”

After which he had to resign from Philips before which he needed an offer letter, therefore he himself went to the Junior HR of the team and got the letter printed. There was no HR back then, Senior HR joined later on.
