Lohegaon Residents Welfare Association (LRWA) have requested the authorities to take action regarding traffic management, frequent accidents, no street lights and more on Bharat Mata Road in Dhanori.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ravi Ganachari, Secretary, Lohegaon Residents Welfare Association, said “The bridge at Jakat Naka is narrow & incomplete where 2 cars can’t ply on both sides simultaneously. It has become an accident zone where several vehicles have overturned. At night, it is very dangerous driving on Bharat Mata Road as there are no street lights on the entire road. Encroachments are also there. There are no speed breakers on this road from the PMC. No authority is coming forward to take action. An accident took place 2 days ago in which the person most probably died.”

As per further information from the X handle of LRWA “Repeated accidents on Bharat Mata Road are alarming. Despite complaints to PMC Traffic Police, the situation persists. Urgent action is needed to ensure safety for all commuters. Lives are at stake.”

Netizens have actively commented on this.

An X user wrote “No traffic management at Jakat Naka; Traffic lights not functional at the Dhanori Road/Jakat Naka junction; heavy traffic on the narrow Porwal Road which is forever under repairs. No proper public parking spaces in the area near markets. Situation is worse during the evening hours!”

Another X user comments “Pune Traffic Police must intervene urgently to ensure there is discipline on the road and lives are saved!”

Another X user posted “This matter is really serious. Despite continuous follow-ups, still things are not done. How many more serious accidents should happen?”

Pune Pulse contacted Pune Traffic Police officials but they refused to comment.
