Iftar meals now from one home to another

Ramzan or Ramadan, is the most sacred month for Muslims living across the world. 
The popular Iftar feast is nothing but a celebration of good food consumed after a day long fast culminated into indulgence of mouthwatering delicacies. 

The year 2020 and 2021 brought in several change in observing and breaking this fast. In Pune, not just households, but several places in the city, were adorned with food joints that served the place food during this period. 

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, observed as a month of spiritual awakening and fasting from dawn to dusk by Muslims worldwide.While they enjoy Suhur pre-dawn Iftar is the 2nd meal consumed at the sunset with folks. 

But with the restrictions being imposed, both this year and last year due to the outbreak of Covid19, people have missed those yummy delicacies being offered at these stalls. 

But, there is a steep rise in people who are offering delicacies from home. Many people lost their jobs in this pandemic and the true passion manifested. 

On behalf of Pune Pulse, Akanksha Dharmani spoke to a few people on what led them to start this food from home venture. 

The celebratory meal is definitely a must-try!  
The iftar menu comprises of dishes like Samosas, Mutton Kheema Patvelya, Cutlets, Gol Pani, Chana Bateta, Nargis Kebabs, Shami Kebab, Chicken steak and a lot more scrumptious dishes. In desserts, you can enjoy Phirni, Halwa Paratha which is a huge delicious flaky paratha, Malpuas and Rabri! 

We are listing down a few recommendations of home chefs so you can enjoy these dishes straight from their home kitchens.  

Nazneen Ponawala’s, Cuisine 13 If you are on a lookout to try some traditional dishes, Nazneen makes some of the most authentic Iftar dishes such as Mutton Kheema Patvelya – Scrumptious minced lamb cooked in Indian spices with Patvelya (Aloo Vadi/Patra). Gol Pani – Healthy and Hydrating drink after a long day of fasting. Gol Pani is traditionally made in most Bohri houses. Jaggery water with Basil seeds and a hint of lime. A drink that not only detoxes but also tasty. Chana Bateta – Known as Pyali in Mumbai is a street food special not just in Ramzan but throughout the year. A delectable combination of Black Gram and Potatoes with a khata Meeta Tamarind chutney garnished with fried Onions and the Middle Eastern Chicken Russian Cutlets made with fresh vegetables and chicken cooked in a beautiful white sauce with a crusty crumb of vermicelli fried to perfection is an absolute delight after fast treat!

Shabana Ghaznavi, makes Iftar ka khana handmade with love Aami ka khana Best at her place. At Hyderabadi flavours, it takes you for a culinary trip straight to Hyderabad. Known for her Haleeem, a decadent dish made with two type of pulses, broken wheat, veggies, minced chicken and lots of power pact masala. She also makes Veg Haleem. She bets one must try it! Why should non-vegetarians have all the fun, she adds.

Aishwarya Gawade is a passionate lockdown chef, who started cooking during the lockdown and realised that her friends and family truly enjoy the food. She soon turned into an entrepreneur selling 22 tiffins of Ghar ka khana each day today, especially for the ones who are quarantine. Prawn Masala, Kheema Fry, Kaleji Gurda Fry are some of her top-selling Iftar dishes from many others like Cheese Chicken Fitters, Chicken Pahadi, Bread Pakoda and a lot more. 

Alinas Kebab Platter

Alina Imran, is an Implementation Specialist at ADP, USA and a home chef by hobby. Alina is making Iftar special platters starting at 699 the platter is a ready to cook, marinated kebab platter with 6 to 7 variety. She is highly recommended by her friends and customers. Alina says that she uses no preservatives or added colour keeping it nice and healthy. 

Jehangeer Delkah cooks with his mother, a baker turned home chef decided to come up with an extensive Iftaar menu in the holy month of Ramadan as an act of gratitude to the lord, known for his Turkish Kofta Kebab, Puffs and Sandwich.
