IIT Grad CEO Pays ₹1 Lakh Monthly for Home Manager: Why Quality Household Management is Worth It
Managing a household while building a high-growth startup can quickly become overwhelming, even for IIT graduates. Aman Goel, founder and CEO of GreyLabs AI, has found a solution: hiring a full-time home manager to handle all household responsibilities. He and his wife, Harshita Srivastava, an IIT Kanpur alumna, have decided that investing in a skilled professional to manage the home is worth every rupee.
Why a Home Manager?
Both Goel and his wife are actively involved in scaling GreyLabs and have demanding schedules that leave little time for chores. Managing a home involves far more than cleaning and cooking — it includes grocery shopping, repairs, bill payments, organizing wardrobes, and supervising service providers.
“Hiring a trained professional who takes care of everything — from food planning to laundry, repairs, groceries, and more — has freed up a tremendous amount of time for us,” Goel explained. “She essentially manages all the house help and service providers, allowing us to dedicate our energy to building GreyLabs.”
I actually hired a Home Manager who is a full-time person who takes care of everything from food planning, wardrobes, repairs, maintenance, Groceries, laundry, etc. Basically, she manages all the house help and service providers and frees up our time.

Living with Goel’s aging parents made the decision even more practical, as they wanted to avoid burdening them with household management responsibilities.
The Cost of Expertise
Their home manager is no ordinary domestic worker. She has previously served as Operations Head at a hotel chain, bringing professional management experience to the household. Goel revealed that she earns ₹1 lakh per month, or ₹12 lakh annually.
“Expensive? Possibly. But we value our time, and we can afford to pay for it,” he said, emphasizing that the payment is a personal investment in their lifestyle and efficiency rather than an extravagant expense.

The post sparked mixed reactions online. While some accused Goel of spending recklessly, he clarified that the salary comes from his personal wealth earned from selling a previous venture.
Many, however, applauded his decision. One user wrote, “He has hired a Home Manager with proper professional experience, paying above market rates, so he and his wife can focus on their careers while ensuring his parents are well cared for. It’s incredible how someone can be a devoted husband, son, and employer, yet still face criticism online.”
Another user reflected on the broader life lesson: “Your time and peace of mind are far more important than the business you built or the wealth you’ve earned. Don’t sacrifice life for work.”
