Swedish furniture giant Ikea is set to broaden its footprint in India by introducing home deliveries to 62 more districts across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana.

This strategic move aims to cater to cities and towns in proximity to its existing large-format stores in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Navi Mumbai, complementing the two city stores in Mumbai.

Ikea’s expansion aligns with its commitment to enhancing accessibility for customers and embracing an omnichannel approach.

Leveraging the distribution capabilities of its physical stores, the company seeks to efficiently fulfil online orders and meet the growing demand in these regions, according to Ikea India CEO Susanne Pulverer.

The expansion is particularly significant as it taps into emerging cities that play pivotal roles in the surge of online retail growth. Pulverer expressed enthusiasm about bringing the Ikea experience directly to the doorsteps of numerous customers in India.

Additionally, as part of this expansion, Ikea emphasizes its commitment to sustainability by increasing alternative fuel capabilities in its supply chain.

Currently, a notable 72% of Ikea’s deliveries are conducted through electric vehicles, showcasing the company’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices.
