Over 1700 Pune companies served notices by RTO over Helmet-rule violation

Pune: Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued notices to more than 1700 establishments in Pune for letting their employees or other people enter the organization without a helmet.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner, Pune RTO said, “Around 1,777 establishments such as private institutions, government offices, companies, schools, colleges, etc. have been issued notices by RTO for letting their employees, students enter the premises without wearing a helmet. If the employees are not wearing a helmet while entering the office & the establishment is letting them enter without wearing a helmet, they will be dealt with according to the law.”

As per further information from Bhor, a watch is also being kept on such establishments through CCTV. First notices are given by the Regional Transport Office. However, if the rule is not followed, action will be taken against the drivers as well as the establishments as per the provisions of Sections 129 and 194D of the Motor Vehicle Act regarding the use of helmets.

So far, the RTO Pune has taken action on 104 such employees for violating the rule. This exercise will take place all over Pune.
