Pune News : Wagholi residents troubled with sewage water flowing on road

Pune: Residents of various Wagholi areas like Lifeline Hospital area, Som Terraces Society etc are troubled due to the sewage water that keeps overflowing continuously on the road for a long time.

A resident of Som Terraces Society, Wagholi, requesting anonymity said, “This sewage water issue has been there for around the last 3 months. The water keeps flowing continuously throughout the entire area. This has made living in this area a nightmare due to the unbearable stench. Also people can’t walk properly from here, motorists cannot commute as there is danger of slipping on the road , the sewage water gives rise to a lot of mosquitoes and many more health issues. People living in nearby slum areas also dump garbage etc in a nearby open plot, further exacerbating the issue. Several complaints have been sent to the PMC regarding this but to no fruition.”

Sanjiv Patil, Director, Wagholi Housing Societies Association said, “This has become a long term issue now. What has happened is, due to an integrated drainage line not being there nearby, the sewage water comes on the road. This gives rise to problems such as walking on roads full of stink, driving on an unsafe road, sewage water giving rise to various diseases etc. I have taken a lot of follow-ups with the PMC regarding this but nothing has happened.”

As per further information from X handle of Sanjiv Patil, “The ticket of PMC has kept on floating ward to ward since past one month. Sewage water on the road causes serious health issues for thousands of residents. Need urgent attention and heavy penalty.”

Shridhar Yeolekar, Superintending Engineer Sewerage, Maintenance And Repair Dept, PMC said, “I shall instruct the concerned team to inspect the area and resolve the matter.”
