Indapur taluka is set to enter a new phase of industrial development following a landmark decision by the Maharashtra Cabinet to transfer 1,000 acres of land at Ratnapuri Mal from the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The move officially clears the way for the development of a new industrial estate in the region.

The decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar after assuming office, marking the initiative as a significant and symbolic beginning of her tenure.

The plan to establish an industrial hub in Indapur was a long-cherished vision of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who had consistently pursued the project as part of his broader development agenda for the region. Indapur MLA and State Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharane had also actively followed up on the proposal, supporting efforts to bring large-scale industrial infrastructure to the area.

With the cabinet’s approval, the creation of a new MIDC industrial estate at Ratnapuri Mal is expected to transform the economic landscape of Indapur, Baramati, and the wider Pune district. The project is anticipated to attract significant industrial investment, generate large-scale employment opportunities for youth, boost local entrepreneurship, and strengthen the rural economy.

Officials believe the development will position Indapur as an emerging industrial hub in Maharashtra, contributing to balanced regional growth and long-term economic stability. The decision is being seen as a decisive step in the state’s industrial expansion strategy, reinforcing Maharashtra’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
