Hours after a ceasefire announcement facilitated by former US President Donald Trump, India accused Pakistan of violating the mutual understanding agreed upon between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations.

The ceasefire was declared at 5:35 PM and confirmed by Indian authorities around 6 PM. However, by late evening, India reported repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

In a statement issued at 11 PM, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Over the past three hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening. This is a breach of the understanding reached between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very, very serious notice of them.”

Urging Pakistan to act with “seriousness and responsibility,” Misri stressed that India’s armed forces have been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance. “They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations along the International Border as well as the Line of Control,” he added.

The development marks a renewed escalation in tensions between the two countries, despite efforts to uphold peace along the volatile border.
