Maharashtra News: Tiger Attack in Chandrapur Claims Lives of Three Women
In a rare and tragic incident, a tiger killed three women at the same spot and time in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Saturday morning. The attack occurred in the Sindewahi Range Forest’s Compartment No. 1355 around 11:30 am while the victims were collecting tendu leaves.
The deceased have been identified as Kantabai Chaudhari (60), her daughter-in-law Shubhangi Chaudhari (38), and Sarika Shende (48), all residents of Mendha Mal village. According to forest officials, the tiger attacked and killed all three women on the spot. Their bodies were later transported to the government hospital in Sindewahi for post-mortem examination.
The triple fatality has triggered concern among local villagers and forest authorities alike, as such simultaneous attacks are extremely uncommon. Forest personnel have launched an investigation and increased vigilance in the area.
In a separate but nearby incident, Vandana Gajbhiye (50), another woman from the region, sustained injuries in a tiger attack approximately 5 km from the initial site. She is currently undergoing treatment.
Forest officials are on high alert, and efforts are underway to track the tiger involved. Warnings have been issued advising villagers to avoid venturing into forested areas alone.
