Tensions Flare in Jammu Region as Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Hours After Agreement
Just hours after a renewed ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan was announced, tensions erupted again along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday, with Pakistan reportedly violating the truce at multiple points in the Jammu region.
Sources confirmed that the Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to respond aggressively to any violations. The sudden escalation comes shortly after both nations publicly committed to maintaining peace, following a truce initiative proposed by Islamabad and acknowledged by New Delhi.
Explosions were heard across Srinagar late in the evening, prompting authorities to enforce a blackout in the area as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, drones and suspected UAVs were spotted over sensitive zones, further raising alarms.
In Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a drone was successfully intercepted and shot down by security forces. A similar incident was reported in Pokhran, Rajasthan, where another drone was neutralized. Additional drone sightings were confirmed in Rajouri, contributing to the heightened alert across the region.
The Pakistan Army allegedly opened fire using artillery in several areas, including Akhnoor, RS Pura, and Rajouri sectors along the International Border. Ceasefire violations were also reported along the LoC in the Palanwalla sector of Jammu, indicating a coordinated escalation.
