Indian American Kush Desai Appointed as Deputy Press Secretary by President Donald Trump
The White House announced on Friday that US President Donald Trump has appointed Kush Desai, a former journalist of Indian-American descent, as the new Deputy Press Secretary.
According to the statement, Kush Desai will take on this role after previously working as the Deputy Battleground States and Pennsylvania Communications Director at the Republican National Committee. In that capacity, he was instrumental in crafting messaging and narratives for crucial battleground states, including Pennsylvania, where Trump achieved victories in all seven significant states.
Additionally, Desai has held the position of Deputy Communications Director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and served as the Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
Sharing his enthusiasm on the microblogging platform X, Desai expressed, “I’m back, back in the DC groove.”
The White House Office of Communications will now function under the leadership of Deputy White House Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich. Desai becomes part of an expanding communications team that features Steven Cheung as the White House Communications Director and Karoline Leavitt as the Press Secretary.
