Indian Navy Officer From INS Shivaji Patents Innovative Indigenous Gas Turbine Design
Cdr MSN Murthy, an Indian Navy officer posted at INS Shivaji, Lonavala has been granted a patent for design of Part Electric Gas Turbine (PEGT).
The PEGT is an innovative concept offering high power density with superior efficiency and off-design characteristics along with Air Independent Propulsion for Naval vessels. Being an open architecture-based heat engine, PEGT is less iterative in terms of design & development process.
A prototype PEGT is currently under development at Centre of Excellence, INS Shivaji and is set to undergo field trials in due course, paving way for maiden production of indigenous heat engine in the country
