The tweet from the Ministry of Railways invited viewers to “feast your eyes on the captivating sight” of the train serenely crossing the sparkling Savitri River.

Alongside highlighting the breathtaking scenery, the Ministry of Railways also underscored Indian Railways’ commitment to environmental sustainability and electrification. A senior railway official emphasized the progress made towards achieving ‘Mission 100 Percent Electrification’ and transforming Indian Railways into the largest green railway network globally.

“In the financial year 2023-24, 7,188 route km have been electrified, which is the highest electrification ever in the history of the railways,” stated the railway official. This achievement builds upon the momentum from the previous financial year, where 6,565 route km were electrified. The railways aim to continue this upward trajectory towards a more eco-friendly and sustainable transportation system.

Moreover, Indian Railways reported a significant increase in freight loading, with 1,591 MT loaded in the financial year 2023-24 compared to 1,512 MT in the previous year, marking a five percent growth. This additional 79 MT loading represents the highest ever recorded by the railways in any financial year, reflecting the organization’s continued efforts to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
