The Pune district election department is leaving no stone unturned to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote. With concerns over declining voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections, they have initiated a multifaceted approach.

To engage citizens across various demographics, the department has enlisted the support of Marathi and Hindi cinema actors, along with prominent industrialists and business figures. These influencers are expected to inspire people to participate in the electoral process.

Moreover, a comprehensive campaign spanning around 39,000 housing societies in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, and nearby rural areas is underway. Office bearers of these societies have been tasked with spreading awareness about essential amenities available at polling stations, including water, shelter, restrooms, and separate queues for women and senior citizens.

In addition to these efforts, the department is utilizing the distribution of voter slip papers as an opportunity to appeal for voting. This strategic move aims to remind voters of their responsibility and the importance of their participation in shaping the democratic process.

The upcoming voting dates for different Lok Sabha constituencies in the region are as follows: May 7 for Baramati constituency and May 13 for Pune, Maval, and Shirur constituencies.

Pune district collector and chief election officer Suhas Diwase highlighted the importance of these initiatives. He emphasized the need for citizens to be aware of the facilities available at polling stations, ensuring a smooth and comfortable voting experience for all.
